Mayavi

What is Mayavi?

Mayavi is a scientific visualisation tool designed to simplify the creation of 3D visualisations. It makes use of VTK (Visualization Toolkit) internally, and therefore includes a large number of visualisation metaphors which can be used. Mayavi’s advantage over other visualisation tools is that it understands and uses NumPy for its computations. Therefore, Mayavi is easily integrated into the workflow of scientific computations which make use of the NumPy and SciPy ecosystems.

The Mayavi software is not included in the DAVM, however may be installed manually on Linux. Please see the official installation guide for further details.
